Some more stuff.....

The sun ones are hung in my office today, and are sort of repurposed art....I have been painting and drawing on anything that isn't moving these days, and this is rough pieces of particle boards that were used to shore up the flower table in shipping. I couldn't really bear to trash the wood, so it has become the make shift canvas that it is.

the cross on t he dark board above was made from some green craft wire and it is glued onto the piece of birch bark i pulled off the tree's here in the parking lot at work..

quickie in the doctor's office

majik markered tonight, and sort of photoshoped...tribute to mom's but typical rush drawing for me.....perhaps i will revisit it and polish it up a bit...just like the thought of a metamorphosis theme...perhaps the next phase after mother is "super woman"...or independent woman! strong woman..a phenomenal woman !

have conf calls and pencils will doodle

sampling from my imagination while on conference calls. I knew that the calender pages would come in handy for something!

My new foyer table has arrived

The table is made by and matches the mirror....I got the mirror at a crafts show a few years ago and didn't want to buy but did want the table. Well this past spring i took the plunge and bought the table to match, not even measuring to make sure it fit...which, thankfully it did.

I cleaned up the foyer yet again, screwed the legs in the table, placed my sculptures on it and voila!

Kinda crooked picture but you can see the mother of pearl inlaid stars...

finally finished it!

well the water color that i started when i was in Hawaii and took the art lesson, I finally finished it last night. I think i am getting the hand of water colors , just a bit, and am doing better at it then when i was a child with a simple water color set and no patience - the colors just bled all over the page.

of course the right paper helps as well - "life is too short not to use good paper" - and it'll cost ya!

My bud Jack in Colorado Springs made the mistake of telling me this little story about him going out with his daughter and friends...and with the help of a little bit of adult beverages, ended up re-enacting the dance on the bar scene from "Coyote Ugly" movie...you go to know Jack, he is the sweetest guy around and so even keeled, but with a twinkle in his eye can def be some fun. I could just see him up there, giving new meaning to "White Men Can't Jump".

Scooterism number 4 - get outside your comfort zone! no matter how old. Perhpas this is directly related to the first drawing of Jack - and a lesson for us all.

Thrash, sneakers and other things

HOw could you get up and go to work and leave this fuzzy boy...notice his eyes, he was looking at me...
OK, a shaky hand on the camera phone, but the tongue of my new Puma's, showing the character, Cheech Wizard, the inspiration for Scooter, and creation of Vaughn Bode, underground cartoonist.
Trying to make a statement on the gas crisis, but not quite there yet.....

MIxed Bag...

Remember what I said in the previous post about my focus or lack there of...a few sketches to prove i know what i am talking about.

Scooterisms and observations on life...

Now when I travel I carry almost as many art supplies as clothes...my travel sketchbooks, special pencils, markers and pens...and God help me if I find a good art store in the town i am in... But in my travel sketch book i am working on recording observations of life, people, feelings, places, and even the chairs of the airports i happen to be in.

I have so many ideas, but they say write or draw what you know...so, what do I know? I have such a cacophony of noise in the way of ideas that each time i draw I search for some thread of focus to all that I see and doodle. Sometimes they come out like this little series of Scooterisms [I actually have about 3 more in the travel sketch.]

Getting ready to head back to NOVA!

but first, a shout out to my friends and colleagues at Harris here in Melbourne. They did much to make it way easy to attend the meetings and took good care of me. I couldn't have asked for more !

And here is a pix of the Thrashman looking through our new front door. He loves that there is more light and that he can keep an eye on what is going on in the front of the house as well as looking out the back door and keeping the squirrels in line! More door pix are on my Flikr account.

frustrating meetings

Other than lounging on the deck of the hotel last nite and enjoying peace and quiet, for today there is a weekly jazz concert out there and i can enjoy it from my room, my meetings go 10 hours a day, and not sure how much progress we make...but tomorrow is the big presentation to the upper crust. another grueling day...urg.

The Aircast goes on travel

Having to spend the week once again in florida, i had to fly out on sunday. And since it takes me a long time to get anywhere, i started early to work my way to the departure gate. I got tired so stopped in the United Red Carpet Lounge to rest, get a soda and some snacks.
Also happy to report that the TSA scan of both the aircast and my hands were negative for any controlled substances....but the crutch had to go thru X ray along with my laptop.
in a btw, i've been remiss in posting as i have been just beat limping around each day and taking excruicating time to get anything done or get anywhere...then the iMac deicided to take a vacation - but toons and drawings will be back up when i return to my artistic liar on friday.

Lunch Box Terrorist

Rest assured, the Kaboom that results is bone shattering !

Memorial Day -2008 - LKG Flea Market

Scenes from one of my sketch books. I was sitting trying to sell my flea market stuff as well as my artisitic signs.. the yuppies that I thought would appreciate my repurposed signs and art, sort of did, "oh isn't that cute", "wouldn't it look great in so and so's bathroom", "aren't you decorating in fish", "you do great work", "these are great"...Lookers and touchers but no buyers. Bah..

But the poorer folks, the 'rednecks', they bought stuff that baffled me, and probably didn't need to spend their money on..I literally watched some of them spend hours circling again and again the booths and tables in this literally small flea market, marking a purchase and placing it in their car or truck , then going back again. This went on and on ...in fact one of them continued to buy stuff from me ! But then just when you think you'd seen it all, as I was trying to pack up my stuff and load the jeep on my crutches, the woman helped me pack and load, just because.
Kindness is great when you find it in the most unusual places.....

So I am still searching for the right venue to show my art and hopefully make some sales
