PEACE ! Sun, and Boat

The first ride of the season was a few weeks ago on the new Seadoo RXP , which had to go back for a safety recall. Hmmmm, that really sux'd, but have wet suit and my red SeaDoo, and away I go ! The lake was most calm, and I was able to run full out right across the lake to the other side....but damn, are my legs out of shape, sitting in a crouch and using the legs like shock absorbers taking the small ripples and a few unexpected waves ...Now my thighs are screaming!

So, when dropping the jetski off at the dealer for them to do the inspection per the safety recall, I got a pleasant surprise...my boat is here ! It still needs to be checked out, and a few things instialled, like the motor.. but me and Thrash got to take a look ! He is going to be a water dog real soon....

tiles, Tiles , Tiles

The one that looks yellow is really a very light green....can't be the camera ! I think it had to do with me being in a rush, not using a flash and had some weird light on it .....but you get the idea.
I guess I should take more pains to photograph my art?

And yes, I am collecting wise sayings, adages and quotes for the tiles, signs and art illustration.

Happiness is a warm and snuggly Thrash

One of my friends, Marissa, out in Colorado Springs , who is owned by her labs Cody and Cowboy, and I were talking about our 'owners' the dogs during a break in our meetings last week. She checks the blog now and again for pix of Thrash, and asked me if i carried a snap shot book of him with me. I said no, and didn't think anything more about it, till the next day, her husband John handed me a small red book during the briefing we were suffering, I mean sitting through.

Yes, it is my very own little photo snap shot album, personalized with care and love, and ready for me to fill with the little man. Almost makes me want to travel again [NOT]...

I am sure one of the pix that will go in there is this one I snapped this afternoon of the little boyz catchin' some ZZZZ's in one of his new sunny spots.....;-)

Thanks Marissa - the 'Thrash' Book made my day....no actually my week out there.

From Colorado Springs - prayers to the Hokies

Tues when I was holed up here in my room, I had the TV on non stop, - Fox, CNN, etc, just engrossed with the coverage of the tragedy at VT. When I walked out to go to my car for the afternoon meeting, I was taken aback and had to pause. The Sesidence Inn , Marriott, which had an American Flag flying over the bldg that housed the check inn desk , gym, and breakfast area. Now , this large flag, was flying at Half Mast. It was a gesture that felt far more than compliance, but of sympathy and solidarity.

On Monday, as my colleague and myself were searching for a resteraunt, we stopped for directions. The helpful folks asked Don where he was from, and after replying VA, they all expressed sympathy and prayers for those at VT.

Mostly all the flags here in the Springs are at half mast.

Just to let the Hokies know that way out here in Colorado, you are in their thoughts.

Thanks to our Vets- esp my Dad

A Post Easter reflection - While in NY for Easter, I made a pilgramage to the local nice mall that my Mom and I used to ride the bus to and go shopping together. This trip, with the spouse in tow and accompanied by my Dad, we made a trip to this mall, visiting the Apple Store, Bath and Body Works and of course, my favorite, the Sunglass Hut. Dad was wearing the baseball cap I bought for him some Christmas' ago, the one that said WWII Vetern. He loves that hat. And we shopped, looked, bought Mom some bath stuff as well as stuff in the Apple store [of course].

But what surprised me the most was that as Dad followed me around, as I explained the technology of iPods and laptops to him and he watched me try on sunglasses, the sales guys in each store, noticing Dad's hat, acknowledge his Vetern status. Each guy, with true sincerity, said "Thank you sir, for serving". That's my Dad, and I am so proud of him.

Here's to all who served and are still serving - Never unnoticed, never forgotten.

Easter Time

Other than getting violently sick Sat nite, Easter was a good visit with the 'rents. Thrash had a great time, and of course made himself quite at home. Mom's surprise was a small basket of colored eggs. I have lots of good memories of dying eggs with her as a child, and of my Uncle who loved to eat them after easter dinner. At the time, I hated hard boiled eggs, and couldn't understand why he ate them. But as with everything, times change and tastes change and now I devour them as well. But the dyed eggs brought me back to tasks long ago forgotten and relatives who now walk with God.

Tile Philosophy.....

I love the Maya quote...bottom line of it is 'Believe in yourself !"

Ok, Kel, the Gandhi quote...is that enough "White space" ?

another serious Art attempt

An idea I had, and I saw this pose elsewhere and thought I would try to capture the pose and add the draping and of course my sun. Drawing nudes is difficult because getting the muscles and proportions right takes time, patience, practice and talent. I get frustrated and end up just putting clothes on them. But if getting clothes, namely cloth , and the draping and folds of the cloth right, gets to be almost as frustrating as drawing the human body....sigh, perhaps I'll just go back to crayola's and drawing clouds.

Scratchin', continued

thinking outside of the box......and scratchin' the itch of trying to come up with new ideas...while I was doodling Mr Un Natural , I was thinking of R Crumb's 'Mr Natural", who was way cool.
