Memorial Day - 2007 -

First -this weekend was one of thanks to all my brothers and sisters in arms, past, present and future. With that thought we raised the flag at the LKG house and started the season...

The boat was gased up and ready for some open water running...and yes that is a wake board in there. and No, I have not made it up on it [yet!].

Visits via water from Toni, Nick and Vicki brighten the day - with everyone trying to stay cool in the heat. Which included my little baby, Thrash, who is now a water dog, a boat dog and a jet ski dog [no pix of him on the ski, but soon. He and I rode around the cove for almost 20 min and he loved it!] He also likes to just go walking in the water, and would walk down the steps or pull you down, and just stand there, like he is below. Falling off the dock at Toni's house, with his little life vest on thank God, he just swam to the steps.

raku and art for art's sale

christine merriman of merryman stuido's did the firing and work to bring a design of my to life....it's my art and her work. what a collaboration. it really is mostly my art, and i am pleased with how it turned out. another step to becoming a ligit artist!

No one in particular...

While sitting on or actually listening in on my daily morning call, i was doodling as normal and this is what resulted. It's no one in particular, but pretty endemic of what some [not all] government workers look like.

Nails and Hammer

So I still do not have all my pictures up on the wall. Repeating the mantra, less is more, as well as trying to pick the pieces I love over the ones I just put up to put up, I walk around the house with a particular picture in hand, holding it up against the wall, trying to decide where to sink the nail, and scare the paint job. One or two pictures at a time, at this rate it'll be Labor day before I am done!

Almost Summer fun, but a lot of sun

First stop for the Suncruiser this past Saturday weekend was to pick up our friends Mike and Vicki and Miss Madison for a boat ride. Me and Thrash were just chillin' on the dock, getting ready to have everyone board and get underway.

New flip flops, cheap shorts and $12 hat from Colorado Springs, we were ready go.

It was a bit chilly on the ride, but the little people with fur coats got the snugglies and human hugs to keep them warm.

The evening brought Mike and Vicki, steaks and sausages, salad and corn, lots of talk and a beautiful night. Next day was boat riding [previous post] and jet skiing, sun and sky. It just don't get no better than that!

Boat Doggie !

OK, I know I prob post too many photos of my doggie, but these were too cool. I had gotten him the goggles, called Doggles, esp for ridding on the new jetski and new boat. we had been working on him getting use to them, and went for a ride yesterday and today. Yesterday, it was a bit chilly and he acted like he was real cold. Today after some slower going on the lake, and some coaxing out of the hibernation like state he seemed to be in, Thrash started to become the Boat Doggie I know he is ! and such a tude....I love them all, and have several more, but the one with the Doggles on the top of his head...like mom like son!

Finished !

So here is the new paint job in the house. Geez, looks like I just moved in, huh? This is a primo paint job, and the walls are so pretty I don't want to put holes in them again to hang my stuff.

And HERE is where all the stuff from the other rooms be at !

the rest of the story.....

So here is the rest of the Champagne box....another idea from another magazine. More sanding, more oil and rubbing and a bit of paint on the ends. I was trying to put feet on the thing, but not to be right now. and when i get tired of it being an organizer, it'll turn into a planter.

A creative streak happened!

So over the last few days it occurred to me I have all thesewonderful things around waiting for ideas to make them come alive. After many late nites, and the fact I had to stay home for the last two days with the painters, I created! The words signs i bought on sale at Michael's and they may or may not end up on a plaque, wood or ?... what is not that clear in the pix is that I experimented with spray paint [a graffitti artiste at heart] and got neat two tone fading on them....

BTW - if you see something you might want, let me know..everything is for sale !!!!

Repurposing is a cute way to say re-cycle, but that is what I am doing with all sorts of stuff...more creativity going on. Below is a top to a champagne box , the bubbly long since gone but I couldn't part with the box. Up till now it was just sitting in the basement, but an idea in a magazine got me to thinking. I sanded it down, rubbed some tung oil on it and sort of made a frame out of molding i found lying around. the frame didn't come out too well, since me and the mitre saw didn't quite hit it off....

,

And lastly, one of my latest works in in progress - a $10 flea market bench, made in NC and which I was told was an antique...yeah right. But I wanted something to go in one of the bedrooms at the lake . So i stripped the paint off it, sanded the hell out of it, and now kinda thinking I want to go for that distressed look. A pillow for a seat and some stain or varnish and it will be good to go.

LKG, Thrash and the new boat

We got it this weekend and put it in the water. But it was way too windy and thus cold to really spend much time tooling around the lake. Mr Thrash was burrrrr....once we were underway. I had to put a towel, a jacket and a life vest on top of his to keep him warm. But the pix up top, we were just idling out of the cove, and Thrash was sizing up the ducks on the water...Nah...too long of a swim and jump to get to them!

the BCSC-T Project for MDA

At work, we are working on getting this communications van built for Missile Defense Agency [MDA], which has the acronym BCSC-T. Every acronym is pronounced in some silly form or fashion, the DoDspeak if you will. So this acronym is pronounced "biscuit" - and while listening to our briefings this week on the progress of this momumental undertaking, I once again found myself doodling a dog biscuit and a rocket. But the nosey guy was first on the page :-)

Hallucinations during meetings..:-)

yes, my mind went into shock during all my meetings and this is what the pen started drawing!

Shout out to T - the Shells

Always looking to use and re-use any and all materials I can find, I had these really neat shells from florida that Toni, my friend, gave me that came all the way from Florida!. I wanted to do something special with them, as they were pretty neat looking. Soooooo, make a long story short, i saw something similar to this in Michaels and it sparked the idea "I can make that!" - Three frames, paint and some glue later, a seashore hanging that has meaning :-)

Sorry the pix sux, but you get the idea what i did .

Ok, I am in my seat...so brief me!

Let's get this meeting started !!! As I normally do, I was drawing people in the room or whatever came into my head. And esp. the Ruby , below, was getting hot in the room and a bit slapp happy...so the 'here, kitty kitty...came out !

New creations and projects

The bowl is part of a wooden salad bowl set that my mom put in the dishwasher and had the finish stripped off...so i took them and recycling into different projects...the tray is something i put together from bits and pieces on sale at Michaels...i drew the coffee cup. Didn't come out exactllllyyyyy the way i wanted, but hell, each piece is a learning experiance.

More recycling..the tile and shell both had different designs on them that sux bad...so nothing a little black paint couln't fix and erase....then a little gold marker..and voila. something that sux less! :-)

Droning on and on.......

If you ever used MS Project, then you know what a PERT chart is. A briefer giving a basic tutorial at one of my meetings, instead of getting to the whole point of the briefing [which WASN'T breifing how a PERT chart is done!]

arggggg.....gotta love the government
